The Bachelor of Science in Interior Design (BS-ID) is a comprehensive program that develops students from foundational design principles to the practice of professional interior design. It combines creative thinking, technical skills, and design development to help students understand how spaces are conceived, developed, and resolved. Students explore space, form, proportion, scale, materials, light, color, and human experience, applying these principles through design projects and technical studies.

The program builds a strong foundation in both the creative and practical aspects of interior design, while developing the ability to think critically and make informed design decisions.The program is CHED-recognized and aligned with the requirements for professional practice, preparing graduates to pursue a career in interior design and qualify for the Interior Designer Licensure Examination administered by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

IDr. Aaron Paglicawan is a seasoned Interior Designer and creative leader. A University of the Philippines graduate and licensed since 2001, he spent 13 years shaping retail spaces as a visual merchandiser for Penshoppe, Oxygen, and more at Golden ABC. Now, as Managing Partner & Creative Director at Detalye Design Group, he continues to push design boundaries while serving as Academic Chairperson for Interior Design at SoFA Design Institute.

IDr. Che Alexei G. Ellson graduated from the Philippine Women’s College of Davao City in 2009 with a degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts, Major in Interior Design with academic honors. In the same year, he passed the PRC-Interior Design Licensure Exams 2009 and became a member of the Philippine Institute of Interior Designers (PIID).

IDr. Denise Ayado is a visionary interior designer and creative leader with over 18 years of experience in design and construction. Former Academic Chair of Interior Design at SoFA Design Institute, she is the CSO and co-founder of the global design brand Galyon, and Design Director and co-founder at Wandr. She also serves as the Managing Director at Studio Almera and CSO at ACIIID, and holds a Master’s from the Florence Institute of Design International. A passionate advocate for design education, she was Deputy Chair for Educational Policy at APSDA and was recognized as an Edutech Leader by the World Education Congress. Currently, she is pursuing an EMSc in Innovation & Entrepreneurship at HEC Paris Cohort 2026, continuously shaping the future of design and learning on a global scale.

Architect Steve Go is an Interior Architect, registered Architect, and educator with 10+ years of experience. He specializes in human-centered design, sustainability, and adaptive reuse. Steve teaches at Adamson University and holds a Master’s in Interior Architecture from Rhode Island School of Design and a Bachelor’s in Architecture from the University of Santo Tomas.

ID. Rey Luciano P. Soliven is an award-winning Product and Creative Design Consultant recognized as the "Most Promising Young Filipino Designer" at Manila F.A.M.E. With multiple KATHA Awards for Best Product Design and Collection, he has worked globally, bridging export-level design and community-based industries. A UST Industrial Design graduate, educator, and mentor, he collaborates with NGOs and export companies while pursuing his passion for photography.

Architect Dana Grace Manimbo is a licensed architect and co-founder of Symplex Studios, established in 2020. A UST graduate with a BS Architecture degree, she has spent the past 10 years shaping spaces across retail, institutional, and residential design. Her expertise in 3D modeling and rendering led her to SoFA in 2022, where she began teaching and later expanded into advanced rendering and design theory. Beyond the classroom, she played a key role in designing the SoFA Rockwell Campus in 2023, collaborating with student volunteers to bring the vision to life.

IDr. Aliane "Ae" Bonifacio is a seasoned interior designer and trade marketing leader, specializing in visual merchandising, retail enhancement, and event project management. A UST Interior Design graduate with Latin Honors, she is currently pursuing her Master’s at UP Diliman. A member of the Philippine Institute of Interior Designers, Ae has worked on freelance design projects and led trade marketing for global brands. Her experience includes a key role at GMA Network, managing set and event production execution.

Architect Marie Grace A. Patadlas is a respected architect and licensed Environmental Planner, Arch. Marie Grace A. Patadlas brings over 20 years of expertise in urban planning and sustainable design. With a Master’s degree from UP-SURP, she has worked with private institutions, international organizations, and the academe. As an adjunct instructor at SoFA Design Institute, she champions design education for greener, more livable cities—making her a key voice in today’s conversation on sustainability.

Do I need to have a background in art or design to apply?

No. SoFA Design Institute welcomes students from all backgrounds, whether you’re new to creative practice or already have experience. Our programs build your skills from the ground up while helping you develop your creative thinking and practice.What matters is your curiosity, commitment, and willingness to learn.

What learning modalities do you offer aside from face-to-face classes?

SoFA offers online and HyFlex learning options for students who need more flexibility. These formats allow you to learn in a way that fits your schedule while staying connected to the same creative practice and learning experience.

Is there an age limit for enrolling in Interior Design or Fashion Design courses?

There’s no age limit. SoFA welcomes learners who are ready to pursue or deepen their practice in design—whether you’re a recent graduate, a career shifter, or returning to a long-time creative interest.

When does the academic year start and end in SoFA Design Institute?

The academic year is divided into two semesters:

Sem 1: August–January
Sem 2: February–June

SoFA offers flexible payment options, including full payment or installment plans spread across the term. Financing through Bukas is also available for eligible students. Payments can be made through BANK TRANSFER, CREDIT CARD, or OVER-THE-COUNTER deposit.
