The Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design and Marketing (BA-FDM) is a CHED-recognized, four-year program that develops the creative, technical, and business skills needed to work in fashion. Students learn to approach design as both a creative practice and a foundation for building a fashion business. Through design methods, technical training, and industry exposure, students develop a distinct creative point of view and the ability to translate ideas into considered fashion collections.

The program culminates in a substantial portfolio that supports their entry into the fashion industry, whether as designers, creative professionals, or entrepreneurs.In their final year, students design and produce a capsule collection that is showcased at SoFA’s annual fashion show, presented to the school community, members of the press, and industry professionals.

Margarita Sanchez is the Creative Director of RiTZ, a ready-to-wear clothing line for women and Hello October, a cosmetics and skincare brand. Prior to that, she was a fashion designer for major RTW brands. She has been teaching for more than ten years and is currently the Academic Chairperson for Fashion Design at SoFA Design Institute.

Richard Papa is a Fashion Designer/Pattern Maker for 31 years now and has specialized in formal wear. His ready-to-wear line is distributed in key branches of Robinson’s Department stores nationwide. He has done numerous fashion shows and has won numerous awards in different design competitions, local and international.

Hazel Roldan graduated from SoFA Design Institute with a BA in Fashion Design and Marketing and has a certificate in Vogue x Parsons Fashion Industry Essentials. As an entrepreneur, she co-owns Katha Lifestyle Store Cafe, a lifestyle shop featuring small local brands and specialty coffee, and the owner for And Again Clothing, a sustainable fashion brand featuring upcycled flour sacks

Nela San Jose is a fashion marketing expert and educator with 17 years of experience. A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) Los Angeles, she has worked with top brands like Kavio LA and Van Heusen Manila. Passionate about industry trends, she has been shaping the next generation of fashion marketers through her expertise in fashion marketing and trend analysis.

Fred Telarma is a fashion designer, entrepreneur, and finance professional blending creativity with sustainability. He leads his avant-garde and special occasions label, Fred Telarma, alongside Himuyong, a lifestyle and artisanal brand. As a Sustainability Lead at Shell Pilipinas Corporation, he champions fashion and textile waste management. Fred holds a BS in Business Administration from UP Diliman and studied Fashion Design & Marketing at SoFA Design Institute.

Mick Perez, a fashion designer and educator. He is also an alumnus of SoFA Design Institute. In 2015, he was recognized as one of the Preview Emerging Fashion Talent Awardees and later triumphed in the Aquafina X SoFA Refresh the Runway Design Competition.

From the world of publishing to celebrity styling, Bea has sharpened her eye and skill in visual story telling through fashion. A stylist-turned-creative director, she also launched her brand Studio Süg, a heritage brand highlighting the culture of Mindanao.

A pattern-making expert since 1995, she has been sharing her knowledge by teaching corsetry and bridal wear since 2019.

Now a mentor at SoFA Design Institute, she teaches Introduction to Fashion Business, inspiring the next wave of creative entrepreneurs with her industry know-how.

Do I need to have a background in art or design to apply?

No. SoFA Design Institute welcomes students from all backgrounds, whether you’re new to creative practice or already have experience. Our programs build your skills from the ground up while helping you develop your creative thinking and practice.What matters is your curiosity, commitment, and willingness to learn.

What learning modalities do you offer aside from face-to-face classes?

SoFA offers online and HyFlex learning options for students who need more flexibility. These formats allow you to learn in a way that fits your schedule while staying connected to the same creative practice and learning experience.

Is there an age limit for enrolling in Interior Design or Fashion Design courses?

There’s no age limit. SoFA welcomes learners who are ready to pursue or deepen their practice in design—whether you’re a recent graduate, a career shifter, or returning to a long-time creative interest.

When does the academic year start and end in SoFA Design Institute?

The academic year is divided into two semesters:
Sem 1: August–January
Sem 2: February–June

SoFA offers flexible payment options, including FULL PAYMENT or INSTALLMENT PLANS spread across the term. Financing through Bukas is also available for eligible students.
