Textile Technology

This course is an essential component of fashion design, offers an in-depth introduction to textiles - their history, construction, and properties. Students will learn how to properly identify and select fabrics based on their characteristics and performance. This knowledge equips students with the technical understanding necessary for informed design decisions, garment planning, and product development.

Outcomes:

The course provides students opportunities to:

- Develop an understanding of textile construction.

- Understand the processes and production of textiles: fibers to finishing to fabric development and the application to contemporary fashion.

- Recognize and identify the appropriate application of textile.

- Engage in discussions about the relationship of textiles and fashion design
