Theory of Interior Design

This course unlocks the core theories and concepts of Interior Design, empowering students to think critically and creatively about design creation and development. By exploring key principles and real-world applications, students will gain the skills to analyze and assess interiors with a strong theoretical foundation, setting the stage for innovative and impactful design solutions. Classes will be taught mainly in English

This course runs for 1 semester or approximately 4 to 5 months.

Week 10: Speaking Design: Elements and Principles in Focus

Week 11: Style and Story: The Language of Ornaments

Week 12: Space & Place: Public, Private, and Proxemics

Week 13: Typology and Parti: Design Concepts Unveiled

Week 14: Patterns and Ornaments: Form and Function

Week 15: Beyond Sight: Designing for All the Senses

Week 16: Environmental Theories: Nature, Space, and Design

Week 17: Ordering Spaces: Modern and Timeless Concepts

  • Basic drafting and model-making tools
  • Desktop/Laptop
  • Any video editing software

OUTCOME:

By the end of this course, students will master key design theories and apply them through hands-on projects, developing the skills to create innovative designs grounded in established principles.
