Makeup Artistry develops the creative and technical skills needed to create makeup looks for a range of personal, professional, and production settings. Beginning with the history and fundamentals of makeup artistry, students learn about facial features, product selection, tools, and essential application techniques before progressing to more specialized styles and creative approaches.
Through hands-on exercises, students explore makeup for personal use, photography, bridal occasions, fashion shows, television, and film. The course also introduces creative makeup, from historical and era-inspired looks to avant-garde concepts, drag makeup, and basic special effects. Students learn to adapt their techniques to different subjects, settings, and creative directions while developing a stronger understanding of makeup as both a technical skill and a form of visual expression.
The program culminates in a beauty and freestyle photography project, where students apply their learning to create finished looks and begin building a portfolio of their work. With an introduction to career preparation, the course provides a foundation for those looking to pursue makeup artistry professionally or expand their creative skills for personal and professional use.
