Basic Illustration

Basic Illustration introduces students to the fundamentals of fashion illustration, developing their ability to represent the human figure, communicate movement, and translate creative ideas into visual form. Students learn to draw the female figure with an understanding of body proportions and anatomy, focusing on key features such as the face, muscles, hands, and feet. Through guided drawing exercises, they explore how posture, gesture, and movement can bring a fashion illustration to life.

The course also introduces garment illustration, teaching students how to depict clothing in relation to the body, including its form, shape, and movement. By combining figure drawing with the fundamentals of garment rendering, students develop the skills to communicate fashion concepts more clearly and effectively through sketches. This foundation supports their progression into fashion design, where illustration serves as an essential tool for exploring ideas, developing designs, and communicating creative intent.
