
The Children’s Wear Garment Construction Workshop is a hands-on program where participants learn the basics of designing and constructing children’s formal clothing. The sessions cover key steps in the process from design concepts to garment construction.
This workshop is ideal for anyone with basic knowledge of clothing construction who wants to build skills in creating children’s fashion.
PROGRAM OUTCOME:
In this course, participants will learn how to create formal wear for boys and girls, from design concepts to actual garment construction.

COURSE OUTLINE
Session 1: Introduction to Girls’ Formal Wear: Design and Fabric Selection
In this session, participants will learn about fabric choices, embellishments, and sewing equipment. They will sketch a simple design, assess fabrics, and review the required materials.
Session 2: Pattern Making & Fabric Cutting for Girls’ Formal Wear
Participants will learn how to read and translate sewing patterns. Afterwards, they will be guided in tracing the pattern to fabric and cutting it according to the chosen design, considering the correct seam allowances.
Session 3: Garment Construction: Sewing and Lining the Upper Bodice
The patterned bodice will be sewn with the correct seam allowances. The upper bodice will also be lined.
Session 4: Con't of Garment Construction: Bodice Attachment, Lining, and Petticoat
The skirt and lining of the gown will be sewn and attached to the bodice, keeping in mind the correct seam allowances. A petticoat will be added to the overall skirt.
Session 5: Finishing & Presentation: Embellishments and Showcase of Girls’ Formal Wear
The garment will be embellished for final touches and presented to the rest of the class.
Session 6: Introduction to Boys’ Formal Wear: Design and Fabric Selection
Participants will design pants, a vest, and a shirt for boys. Correct fabric options for the designs will be discussed and analysed.
Session 7: Pattern Making & Fabric Cutting: Vest and Shirt
The vest and shirt designs will be patterned and laid out on the material for the most efficient layout, with allowance for the seams.
Session 8: Pattern Making & Fabric Cutting: Pants
The pants' design will be patterned and laid out on the material for the most efficient layout, with an allowance for the seams.
Session 9: Garment Construction: Final Assembly of Boys’ Formal Wear & Embellishments
Participants will continue working on the three (3) pieces to finish the ensemble, adding embellishments based on design/s.
Session 10: Finishing & Presentation: Showcase of Boys’ Formal Wear
Participants will apply final touches and present the completed boys’ formal wear ensemble to the class.

A Certificate of Attendance will be given to each student who has completed the program.
