Introduction to Fashion Business is an introductory course that gives insights into the business side of fashion. It covers brand development, and participants will learn the key skills necessary to operate a retail brand effectively. From consumer behavior to a comprehensive line-planning strategy based on data analytics, students will be guided in translating fashion designs into sales achievements.

COURSE OUTLINE

Session 1 (Online): Introduction to the Fashion Retail Industry
Students will learn how the fashion business is structured and developed, explore the key external factors influencing business decisions, and analyze the concerns and challenges for fashion retail brands, including sustainability and ethical practice.

Session 2 (F2F): Line Planning Fundamentals and Production Process
Students will learn about the fundamentals of planning a full line of products for a
Fashion Retail Brand and the basics of design development and production process.

Session 3 (Online): Business & Data Analytics
Students will learn to find, understand and use data in a fashion business environment, including customer profiling and trend forecasting. They will also know how to devise creative and effective solutions for problems faced by brands.

Session 4 (F2F): Consumer Behavior
Students will explore consumer behavior analysis in greater detail and how brands use it to inform future strategies. They will also understand purchase decisions, marketing, and branding, and learn how good customer service leads to increased brand loyalty.

Session 5 (Online): Fashion Retail Environments
Students will investigate the ever-changing nature of the fashion retail industry, including how brands are merging their online and physical stores. They will also research the concepts of virtual, omnichannel and experiential retailing.

Session 6 (F2F): Environmental, Social & Corporate Governance
Learn how modern brands balance business goals with environmental and social concerns and increase consumer demands for sustainability.

Session 7 (online): Formulating a Retail Brand
Learning from our lectures about fashion retail business, the students will conduct a feasibility study of their retail brand. From the philosophical handle of their label/brand to consumer behavior and product execution, the students will produce a complete brand brief and line plan.

Session 8 (F2F): Presentation of Fashion Retail Brands by the students
Each student will present their own Brand Brief and Feasibility Study.
