
Interior Design Fundamentals represents a beginning point for the study of interior design as an unique design discipline. It will serve as a foundation that is supportive of future investigations, both academic and professional, within interior design.
By the end of the workshop, students will have a strong foundation in interior design, enabling them to create thoughtful, functional, and visually compelling spaces.

Course Outline:
Session 1: Introduction to Interior Design
In this session, students will gain an overview of interior design as a discipline, its impact on spaces, and the role of designers in shaping environments.
Session 2: Elements & Principles of Design
In this session, students will learn the core design elements—color, texture, form, and space—and how to apply design principles to create visually harmonious interiors.
Session 3: Anthropometrics & Ergonomics
In this session, students will explore human-centered design by understanding measurements and ergonomics, ensuring spaces are comfortable and efficient for users.
Session 4: Zoning
In this session, students will learn the importance of zoning in interior spaces, how to organize layouts for functionality, and the impact of spatial flow on user experience.
Session 5: Design Language
In this session, students will develop their ability to communicate design concepts through sketches, diagrams, and mood boards, translating ideas into visual narratives.
Session 6: Presentation of Proposed
In this session, students will refine their proposed design ideas, incorporating feedback and preparing for professional presentation.
Session 7: Interior Design and The Different Types of Spaces
In this session, students will explore various types of interior spaces—residential, commercial, hospitality, and more—and how design principles adapt to different environments.
Session 8: Learning the Design Vocabulary
In this session, students will build their interior design vocabulary, learning key terms and industry jargon to communicate ideas with confidence.
Session 9: Space Planning
In this session, students will apply their knowledge of zoning, ergonomics, and design principles to develop functional floor plans and layouts.
Session 10: Application of Anthropometrics & Ergonomics
In this session, students will integrate anthropometrics and ergonomics into their design projects, ensuring user comfort and efficiency in their layouts.
Session 11: Application of Materials & Color
In this session, students will explore how materials and color influence ambiance, durability, and aesthetics, selecting appropriate finishes for their designs.
Session 12: Final Presentation
In this session, students will present their final interior design concepts, showcasing their understanding of space planning, materials, and overall design execution.
