From the regal grandeur of Madrid to the sculptural modernism of Barcelona, this immersive journey explores Spain as one of Europe's most intellectually rich creative landscapes.
Join us as we uncover how Spain transforms tradition into innovation, craft into culture, and design into a way of life. The SoFA Spain Design Tour promises an unforgettable exploration of one of Europe's most dynamic creative ecosystems.

TRAVEL ITINERARY
May 24 MONDAY | Day 1: Madrid — The Geometry of Power & Heritage
Welcome to Madrid, Spain's historic capital and the gateway to centuries of artistic, architectural, and cultural excellence. Upon arrival, delegates will begin their exploration with the Royal Tapestry Factory, a living archive where traditional weaving techniques continue to influence contemporary textile and interior design. Here, participants will gain insight into structural weaving, color mastery, and material longevity.
The afternoon continues at Museo Cerralbo, a remarkable nineteenth-century mansion that serves as a masterclass in spatial composition, decorative arts, and historical interiors. The day concludes with a walk through Madrid's prestigious Salamanca District, where luxury fashion boutiques and contemporary retail environments demonstrate how Spanish brands balance heritage with modern sophistication through architecture, materiality, and visual merchandising.
May 25 TUESDAY | Day 2: Madrid — Avant-Garde Spaces & Textures
Today explores Madrid's transformation into one of Europe's most progressive creative capitals. Begin at Matadero Madrid, a former slaughterhouse reimagined as an internationally recognized contemporary arts district. This extraordinary adaptive reuse project demonstrates how industrial heritage can be transformed into vibrant cultural infrastructure.
The afternoon leads through the creative neighborhoods of Chueca and Malasaña, home to independent fashion ateliers, vintage archives, textile suppliers, and concept boutiques. Here, delegates will examine Madrid's emerging design language—one defined by deconstructed silhouettes, tactile materials, and experimental craftsmanship. The day concludes with a design-forward dining experience in which architecture, interiors, and gastronomy merge into a single immersive creative narrative.
May 26 WEDNESDAY | Day 3: Barcelona — The Subversion of Form
Travel by high-speed train to Barcelona, where Catalonia's architectural revolution forever changed the language of design. The day begins with Antoni Gaudí's masterpieces, including the Sagrada Família and Casa Batlló, exploring how organic structures, biomimicry, and fluid geometry blur the boundaries between architecture, sculpture, and fashion.
We will continue to the Museu del Disseny de Barcelona to examine the evolution of fashion silhouettes, historical dress, furniture, and industrial design. The afternoon explores Barcelona's independent fashion ateliers and concept stores before visiting the historic Santa Eulalia boutique, one of Spain's oldest haute couture institutions. Through its elegant interiors, archival collections, and enduring legacy, delegates will gain insight into the evolution of Spanish luxury retail and fashion heritage.
May 27 THURSDAY | Day 4: Madrid — The Intelligence of Objects
Today turns attention from architecture and fashion toward objects, furniture, and industrial design. At the Museo Nacional de Artes Decorativas, delegates will examine how everyday objects reveal the evolution of Spanish culture, craftsmanship, technology, and domestic life—from furniture and ceramics to glass, textiles, and decorative arts. The afternoon explores Madrid's contemporary design landscape through selected Spanish furniture, product, and object design spaces, examining how designers reinterpret traditional materials and craft techniques for contemporary living.
May 28 FRIDAY | Day 5: Madrid — The Art of Image & Identity
We will examine the power of image-making, visual communication, and cultural identity. Delegates will explore Madrid's photographic and graphic design heritage, studying how photography, typography, illustration, and visual composition have shaped Spain's self-representation, from historical documentation to contemporary creative expression.
The afternoon becomes an exploration of brand identity as a design discipline, examining how Spanish creative houses construct recognizable worlds through image, packaging, typography, art direction, and storytelling. Rather than focusing on retail environments, the experience asks how a brand can develop a coherent visual language that extends across multiple forms and mediums.
May 29 SATURDAY | Day 6: Madrid — The Architecture of Haute Couture
Returning to Madrid, today's immersion celebrates Spain's extraordinary contribution to global fashion. At the Museo del Traje, delegates will study original works by Cristóbal Balenciaga and Mariano Fortuny, examining how engineering, construction, pleating, and textile innovation revolutionized twentieth-century couture.
The afternoon explores Spain's continuing legacy through the flagship Loewe boutique, renowned for its dedication to leather craftsmanship and architectural retail design, alongside selected contemporary designers whose work bridges heritage with innovation. A visit to the beautifully preserved Museo Sorolla offers an intimate glimpse into Spanish domestic life, historical textiles, and the relationship between art, fashion, and interior culture.
May 30 SUNDAY | Day 7: Madrid — Synthesis & The Contemporary Vanguard
The final full day synthesizes the themes explored throughout the journey. Begin at the Museo Reina Sofía, home to masterpieces by Picasso, Dalí, and Miró, to extract color palettes, compositional strategies, and conceptual frameworks that continue to influence contemporary fashion and interiors.
The afternoon explores Madrid's refined design districts, visiting contemporary furniture showrooms, artisan studios, and multidisciplinary design spaces where porcelain, furniture, fashion, and interiors intersect. The experience concludes atop one of Madrid's iconic rooftops, reflecting upon the city's layered history alongside the radical experimentation of Barcelona and the luminous geometry of Valencia—a fitting culmination of Spain's remarkable creative landscape.
May 31 MONDAY | Day 8: ¡Hasta Luego, España!
As our Spain Design Tour comes to a close, delegates will check out of the hotel and depart for the airport, bringing home not only photographs and souvenirs but a deeper understanding of Spain's remarkable contribution to global design. Through a week of immersive learning, interdisciplinary exploration, and creative discovery, participants leave inspired by the country's enduring dialogue between heritage and innovation.
