The First Week of Semester 1, 2026–2027

A New Chapter of Creative Practice

The first week of Semester 1, Academic Year 2026–2027 marked the return of familiar faces and the arrival of a new generation of creatives at SoFA Design Institute.

Across the campus, studios and classrooms came to life. From the Fashion Labs to the Interior Design Labs, students began settling into their new environments, engaging with their professors and mentors through hands-on instruction, discussion, and creative practice.

Early sketches and design exercises already filled the studios, reflecting the process-oriented nature of design education. Lessons introduced students to the technical foundations of their disciplines while encouraging attention to detail, thoughtful execution, and a deeper understanding of design principles.

For our faculty and mentors, the first week is also an opportunity to establish the foundations of each studio. Through guidance, constructive feedback, and clear expectations, students begin developing the discipline and creative perspective necessary to progress in their practice.

As the semester unfolds, SoFA remains committed to guiding students across its B.A. Fashion Design and Marketing, B.S. Interior Design, and Continuing Education programs, including its short courses and certificate programs.

A new semester has begun. The work is just taking shape.
