The first day at SoFA Design Institute marked more than just the start of the semester. It was a moment of fresh beginnings, filled with creativity, curiosity, and excitement across the campus. From Fashion Design to Interior Design, students were eager to learn, meet their professors, and begin their journey in design.

It has been one month since classes officially started for the BA Fashion Design and Marketing and BS Interior Design programs. The atmosphere on campus showed both energy and adjustment as students settled into their new schedules and prepared to bring out their creativity under the guidance of their mentors.

Fashion Lab: Basic Draping with Ms. Irene Subang

In the Basic Draping class of Ms. Irene Subang, students came prepared with their materials and focused on the fundamentals of draping. While some were still adjusting to the techniques, their commitment and eagerness to learn stood out. Their work reflected the drive to master the skills that will one day prepare them for the fashion industry.

Interior Design Lab: Studio II with Sir Che Ellson

In Interior Design Studio II, Sir Che Ellson led a detailed lecture on spatial design. Students listened closely as he shared his expertise and guided them through advanced concepts. For many, this was another important step in strengthening their knowledge and skill in interior design.

Classroom Conversations: Fashion Marketing with Mr. Lev Rodriguez

Mr. Lev Rodriguez’s Fashion Marketing class highlighted the importance of presentation and communication. Students took turns sharing their brand ideas in a pitch-style format, simulating real-world industry practice. This exercise prepared them not only to design but also to confidently present and carry themselves in professional settings.

Shared Spaces, Shared Dreams

In the hallways, fashion students carrying sketchbooks met interior students with scale models. These simple interactions showed the spirit of community at SoFA, where different disciplines share one campus and one creative vision.

The Journey Ahead

One month after the first day, the energy at SoFA remains strong. Students are not only adjusting to their classes but are also beginning to shape their creative identities and portfolios. What started as an introduction has now become a foundation for the work they will carry forward into the rest of the semester.
