Fashion Week Asia 2026 Brings Asian Fashion to Manila, with SoFA Design Institute Joining the Conversation
Fashion is more than what reaches the runway. Behind every collection are creative decisions, cultural influences, business strategies, and techniques that shape how fashion evolves. This October, Fashion Week Asia 2026 brings these dimensions together in Manila, creating a platform for designers and creative voices from across the region to connect, exchange ideas, and bring Asian fashion into greater focus.
Taking place from October 20–24, 2026, the inaugural edition of Fashion Week Asia aims to foster cross-border collaboration and showcase the diversity of Asian design through runway presentations, exhibitions, and industry forums. The initiative places regional talent and craftsmanship at the center of a wider conversation about where fashion stands today and where it goes next.
SoFA Design Institute is proud to partner with Fashion Week Asia in support of this growing regional platform, reinforcing the Institute’s commitment to connecting design education with the wider creative industry.
Creative Luminaries Join the Fashion Forward Asia Forum
🗓️ October 23, 2026 | Registration starts at 12:00NN & doors open at 1:00-1:20PM
📍 Diplomatic Hall, Manila Marriott Hotel, Newport World Resorts
A key highlight of the program is the Fashion Forward Asia Forum on October 23, featuring an esteemed roster of industry leaders, designers, and creative voices exploring the forces shaping fashion across the region.
Among its featured speakers is Amina Aranaz-Alunan, co-founder and chairwoman of SoFA Design Institute. As a designer and entrepreneur with a longstanding involvement in the Philippine fashion industry, Amina brings a perspective informed by both creative practice and the business of fashion.
The forum will explore five areas of conversation, spanning creative identity, the business of design, material innovation, access to fashion week, and the power of storytelling. Together, these topics examine not only how designers develop their work, but also how they build brands, navigate the industry, and bring their perspectives to wider audiences.
For SoFA, these conversations reflect an important part of design education: preparing emerging creatives to understand the industry beyond the studio. Developing a distinct creative voice matters, but so does understanding the cultural, commercial, and technological forces that influence how design is made, communicated, and experienced.

Beyond the Runway: A Closer Look at The Re-See
🗓️ October 23, 2026 | 10:00 AM–7:00 PM
📍 MGBx Convention Hall, Manila Marriott Hotel, Newport World Resorts
Another highlight of Fashion Week Asia is The Re-See, taking place on October 23. The experience invites visitors to see runway pieces up close, explore the details and craftsmanship behind each look, and meet the designers responsible for bringing their collections to life.
Beyond the immediate impact of a runway presentation, The Re-See offers a closer appreciation of the ideas, techniques, and creative decisions behind the finished work. It also brings attention to the richness of Asian craftsmanship and the different perspectives that contribute to the region’s fashion identity.
For aspiring designers, this kind of engagement offers a valuable opportunity to look more closely at how fashion works in practice. Observing a garment beyond the runway allows greater attention to its construction, materials, and details, while conversations with the designers can reveal the thinking and processes behind the final piece.
These are the kinds of experiences that extend learning beyond the classroom, giving emerging creatives a more direct connection to the work and people shaping the industry.

Bringing Design Education Closer to the Industry
At SoFA, design education is grounded in the belief that creative development happens through exploration, experimentation, and engagement with the world beyond the studio. Connecting students with industry practitioners and platforms allows them to encounter different approaches to design, understand professional practice, and see how creative ideas develop within a wider industry context.
Through its partnership with Fashion Week Asia, SoFA joins a regional initiative that brings Asian designers, craftsmanship, and creative perspectives to a wider stage. The collaboration reflects the Institute’s continued investment in the future of fashion and in preparing the next generation of creatives to participate in its evolution.
As Asian fashion continues to develop its presence and identity on the international stage, opportunities for exchange across markets and disciplines become increasingly important. Platforms like Fashion Week Asia create space for these connections, bringing together the people, ideas, and practices that will influence what comes next.
