Advance Corsetry
This course is a specialized course that takes an in-depth look at the construction and design techniques for pattern drafting, boning, and construction methods for corsetry that aims to expand the student's knowledge in basic pattern making and sewing.
Throughout the course, students will learn advanced techniques for pattern drafting, boning, and construction methods for corsetry. Students will also explore various fabrics and materials used for corsetry and learn how to select appropriate materials for different corsetry projects. In addition to technical skills, the course will briefly survey the history of corsetry and its evolution over time in shaping the body.
This course runs for 1 semester, or approximately 4 to 5 months.

Week 1: Course Introduction (Brief history of Corsetry)
Week 2: Measurement taking for course mastery pattern making
Week 3: Front & Back Sloper (pattern 1 in muslin)
Week 4: 10 Bone Classic
Week 5: 15 Bone Victorian (Pattern 2 construction)
Week 6: Necklines Front Sloper
Week 7: Necklines for Back Sloper Basic and Low Back
Week 8: Corsets with yoke front and back sloper
Week 9: Embellishments for Corsetry
Week 10: Midterm
Week 11: Proof reading the pattern | Design Layout | Materials assessment and costing
Week 12: Plot sloper front and back on fabric | Cut on grain line (Pattern 3 : Start of finals project)
Week 13: Design for Finals
Week 14-18: Finals
Time to work on the patterns and finals project will be spread out within the 18 sessions
