Every January, March, and August, SoFA Design Institute offers 4 to 8-session modules on Fashion and Interior Design. Whether for initial or complementary training, participants expand their skills in varied design and technical disciplines.

Introduction to Fashion Photography

Schedule: July 17 - 28  | Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday  |  6:00 - 9:00PM

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The course is designed to introduce students to fashion photography.  They may join the workshop with no background in photography at all. Basic photography concepts will be discussed with an emphasis on shooting for fashion.

The course is a combination of lecture, demonstration and actual shooting in a studio. This allows the student to experience and apply what they have learned during the class lectures. The shooting experience will also expose them in working with other creatives at the set.

After finishing the course, the students should be able to get the sense of what the fashion photography industry is all about. What is needed in terms of hardware and skills to develop further in order to get involve in this industry.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course partnered with MAC Cosmetics is an introduction of make-up essentials.  Students will learn about the steps of make-up from the tools, basic skincare, face shape, skin tone and proper application.  Looks will be created for natural, day to night and a focus on eyes.  Lastly, a glimpse into various make up categories will be discussed: editorial, bridal, theater and film/commercial as well as MAC make up trends.  Students will also have a glimpse in a day in the life of a make-up artist through a MAC store visit. 



Design for Kids: Fashion Design

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Design for Kids: Fashion Design Workshop serves as introduction to fashion for kids. This summer’s program introduces 7 significant periods and their impact on today’s fashion.  We will explore various forms of inspiration and translate them into innovative fashion.  The kids will be guided in visual research in a nurturing and fun environment.  They will be encouraged to experiment with techniques in developing their own design concepts.  The workshop will conclude with a fashion show displaying their creative output.

Fashion Construction for Teens

Schedule:

COURSE DESCRIPTION

In this course, students will learn how to draw using a nine head template and illustrate them with garments as well as how to render color. They will also learn about different body parts and how to take body measurements.  From the course, students will create an A-line reversible overlap skirt, put a button and button hole, make a simple extended sleeve blouse, a garter waisted jodphur pants and an embellished spaghetti blouse. They will also learn how to fit and alter their garments.

Introduction to Fashion Construction

COURSE DESCRIPTION

In this course, students will have a brief introduction to illustration and finding design inspiration. They will also gain skills on pattern making, sewing, fabric cutting, finishing, fitting and embellishment. 



Fashion Styling

Schedule: July 24 - August 16  | Tuesday & Thursday |  6:00 - 9:00PM

Fee: PHP 12,000


COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course includes lectures, and activities that will introduce students to the world of fashion and fashion styling. Students will learn about the relevance of fashion styling, gain familiarity with the industry's influential personalities, and understand the idea of focal points and editing.  

 

Intermediate Makeup

Schedule: July 17 - 27  |  Tuesday, Thursday & Friday  |  6:00 - 9:00PM

COURSE DESCRIPTION

In this next level course by MAC Cosmetics, students will take a more comprehensive look at various makeup categories. Participants will learn makeup application techniques for fashion shows, TV, avant-garde/editorial looks and theater, and will likewise be taught the latest MAC trends. The workshop will close with a field day at a MAC store where students will get PHP2,000 worth of products.
